10 Yoga Poses To Lose Weight Faster

These ten yoga poses for weight loss will help you reach your fitness goals faster!
Yoga, when done regularly and correctly, is an incredibly powerful tool for weight loss. Holding complex positions in balance, allows you to engage your muscles, the same way you engage them while lifting weights.

So, I’ve put together some of my favorite yoga poses for weight loss. These poses engage large muscle groups, which is very effective for burning calories. Some of them are also quite challenging, but will help you build muscle throughout your body.

What you’ll need: A yoga mat

What to do: Hold each pose for at least 30 seconds depending on your comfort level. Complete all 10 moves and then repeat this routine 2-3 more times.

1. The Chair

The chair is like a squat, it allows you to work your legs hard. And since it activates large muscle groups, the chair pose is perfect for burning calories.

2. The Warrior

The Warrior I is incredible for defining your thighs. If you start shaking, that means it’s working!

3. The Warrior

The Warrior II is similar to the Warrior I, except that this position also allows you to stretch and work your arms, back and shoulders.

4. The Warrior

When you’re really ready to add some challenge to your routine, try the Warrior III. This position looks simple, but it’s not. Trying to maintain your balance while holding this pose will require engaging all the muscles in your leg, abs and back.

5. The Plank

Planks will engage your abs, arms and shoulders. To maintain good posture, your body should be in a straight line, not too slumped or raised.

6. The Boat

The boat pose requires rock-hard abs to successfully hold for a while. Focus on keeping your legs straight and your back straight to avoid tension.

7. Downward Dog

The downward dog is great for stretching your legs and spine. However, achieving and maintaining proper form will also engage different muscles throughout your body, burning calories and increasing your heart rate.

8. Dog Up

Dog up, or upward dog, is a great pose to engage the upper body, as your arms, shoulders and back will all have to work together. It’s also a great stretch for your abs and chest.

9. The Eagle

The eagle targets the calves, while engaging other leg muscles. You’ll also need to use your back and abs to keep your torso straight.

10. The Triangle

The triangle is a great alignment and stretching pose that works your entire body, including your hips, thighs, calves and shoulders.
